The Project

For the purposes of territorial planning the “Carta della Natura” must be multi-scale and updatable. It must hold a wide range of information on the physical, biotic and anthropic environments and evaluate their inter-relations. To this end it was structured as a GIS (Geographical Information System) project. In order to produce a “normalised” cartographic product using the same methods throughout the national territory it is necessary to use unitary legends and classifications, uniformly available indicators determined in the same way and to apply the same mapping and evaluation criteria.
