- Field Trip Workshop "The Dead Sea Rift as natural
laboratory for earthquake behaviour: prehistorical, historical and
recent seismicity"

The Field Trip Workshop organized by the Geological Survey of
Israel and INQUA Focus Group on Paleoseismology and Active
Tectonics, in collaboration with UNESCO (IGCP project 567), is aimed at
improving our understanding of Paleoseismology and Seismic Hazard
Assessment, at a global leve and specifically in the Eastern
Mediterranean Region, with an emphasis on the study of the
environmental effects of earthquakes and on the application of the
ESI 2007 intensity scale.

- Workshop on Earthquake Archaeology and Paleoseismology
in Baelo Claudia Roman ruins, Southern Spain
(7th - 14th September, 2009).

The Workshop is organized by the INQUA Spanish Regional Working
Group (AEQUA) and the RWTH Aachen University in collaboration
with the IGCP project 567. The workshop will include the guided
visit to the Roman ruins and one-day field trip on the active
tectonics/paleoseismicity around the Gibraltar Strait area, as well
as a complementary field-training course (2 ½ days) on
Archaeoseismology. Registration fees will be of about 650 €
(Workshop+training course) and 450 € (only workshop). Fees
will include documentation, guided-visit of ruins, Gibraltar Strait
field trip, accomodation, breakfasts and dinners. Baelo
Claudia is located near Tarifa in the Province of Cadiz.
Airports in the vicinity are: Malaga (2h), Sevilla (2h) or Jerez de
la Frontera (1,5h). Transport to the venue and hotel will be
organized. Typical andalucian conference dinner is included.
Oral Communication and poster presentation will be welcome.
