IFFI Project (Italian Landslide Inventory)
The IFFI project (Inventory of Landslide Phenomena in Italy),
carried out by APAT and the Regions and Autonomous Provinces,
supplies a detailed picture of the distribution of landslide
phenomena within Italy. As of today the inventory has registered
almost 470,000 landslide phenomena affecting an area of around
20,000 sq km, or 6.6% of the national territory.
The main products and services produced by the IFFI project are as
follows: the online cartography service making it possible to
visualise landslides and query the main parameters involved, and
the Report on landslides in Italy (Rapporti APAT, 78/2007), which
supplies a summary of data on landlsides on both regional and
national scale.
On 13 and 14 November a national workshop titled “The IFFI
project – Inventory of Landslide Phenomena in Italy:
methodology and results” was held in the APAT auditorium in
Rome to communicate and disseminate information on landslides. It
saw the participation of the leading names in the academic and
scientific world and of the technical departments of the
Environment and Land Defence General Secreteriats of the Regions
and Autonomous Provinces.
