Italian Commission of Stratigraphy
The Italian Commission of Stratigraphy was established in 1988
within the Italian Geological Society with the aim of coordinating
Italian activities in the stratigraphic field, with particular
regard to the chronostratigraphic units defined in Italy.
Later the initial brief was expanded to include the verification
of the validity of the lithostratigraphic units established in
Italy and the revision and updating of the Italian Code of
Stratigraphic Nomenclature.
The Department of Land Defence of APAT has been a member of the
Commission since 2004. This section of the site contains the
documents relating to the new framework.
