Guidelines for the compilation of illustrative notes
Previous studies
Previous studies must be described in sufficient detail,
beginning with the authors who first examined the geology of the
area in question. Rather than merely providing a list of
authors’ names, this should be seen as an occasion for
illustrating the evolution of geological knowledge and for
comparing different models and interpretations. For this reason it
would be opportune to include a concise summary of the most
significant works. Particular attention should be paid to work with
cartographic implications, especially if geological maps are
included. It should be underlined that these are merely general
guidelines. It is up to the Authors to decide how to approach the
argument, also in view of the space available in the explanatory
notes.
