Geological Sheet no. 413 "Borgo Grappa-Pontine Islands" on a
scale of 1:50,000

This project involves the realization of a
composite geological sheet composed of sea, island and dry
land areas. The National Geological Service (that later
became the APAT) is producing it. The work has been shared out
in the following way: the marine part of the sheet and the
Pontine island areas were mapped according to agreements
respectively with “La Sapienza” University of Rome
and “Roma Tre” University while part of the dry
land was mapped directly by the Geological Service, which also
coordinates the whole project. The final aim is to print the
geological map on a scale of 1:50,000, including additional
information (such as diagrams, cross sections, explanatory
notes, etc.). Data and sample forms will also be collected for
the database of the national map project (scale
1:25,000). Emerged areas were mapped on a scale of
1:10,000 on the basis of the Regional Technical Map, while the
sea map is the result of a detailed mapping on a scale of
1:25,000. All information was digitalized and is currently
being prepared for print.
