Public access to information
The
IPPC Directive (Directive no. 96/61/EC) and Legislative
Decree no. 372/99 establish that public access must be
available for: Integrated Environmental Authorization applications.
These applications can be viewed at a specific office identified by
the relevant Authority. For information on the relevant Authority
consult the page on “Industry information”. The same
authorizations can also be viewed at a specific office identified
by the relevant Authority. Reports on plant controls and
inspections can be consulted at a specific office identified by the
relevant Authority. Integrated inventories on emissions (in Italy
it is named
INES) can also be consulted.
In addition to the above, BRef Community documents are also
publicly available through the Seville site.
Active public participation is fundamental in order to complete the
authorization reform process that the IPPC started.
Directive no. 2003/35/CE amended the IPPC Directive,
strengthening public rights on authorization processes even
further.
In addition, the Commission published its
communication to the European Council and Parliament on the
IPPC Directive implementation progress.
