Towards the EU Directive 2007/60/EC implementing: existing tools and future requirements

The day will see the assessment and flood risk management representatives of the authorities responsible on the Italian territory, called to assist the process of implementation of Community legislation adopted on October 23, 2007 in order to prevent flooding and to limit the disastrous effects on human health, environment, infrastructures and property.
The deadlines set by Directive 2007/60/EC, which requires the Member States of the European Union to submit by 2011 a preliminary assessment of the risks of flooding of their river basins, to develop by 2013 the maps of flood areas in various periods of recurrence of events and by 2015 plans to adopt risk management in these areas, need the maximum effort of coordination and cooperation between bodies responsible for the process of implementing the Floods Directive in different institutional and territorial levels.
