European Earth observation activities

Earth observation activities of EC, formerly known as GMES (Global Monitoring of Environment and Security) have been now named Kopernikus: the announcement was given by EC vice-president Günter Verheugen, during Lille Forum in September 16-17. After the success of the first two GMES Forums (Bruxelles 2002 and Noordwijk 2003) presenting its aspects of scientific research and development, the Lille Forum has illustrated the next step of the Project, which consists in the pre-operative demonstration.
