The report contains the statement sent from Italy to the
European Commission under the Monitoring Mechanism Decision
(Commission Decision 280/2004/EC). In accordance with the article
3.2, the report provides an analysis of national policies and
measures taken over recent years or planed to take to achieve the
Kyoto target for the period up to 2020, including the objectives of
the "climate package" approved in December 2008. It describes also
the national energy situation individually analysing each one of
the main drivers and gives a projection of emissions of CO2 to 2010
and to 2020. Finally, it contains a sensitivity analysis on the
variation of emission data because of the effects of economic
crisis.
