After the success of the APAT volume "Atlas of the works of
defense of the slopes" (2001), the series devoted to the theme of
the defense of the ground becomes enriched of this document. With
wide use of photo and sketches, the book illustrates the whole
range of the possible works of river setup, keeping in mind of the
function and of the impact on landscape. This publication has the
further value of uniting the competences of the ex - National
Geologic Service and of the Hidro-geological Risk unity of the ex -
ANPA, both now united in APAT. This fusion of experiences has given
birth to a study, unique in its kind, that melts the traditional
techniques of the geotechnical engineering with the naturalistic
ones.
