APAT provides technical support to MATT for the implementation of the Alpine Convention. The three year plan includes integrated analysis and APAT has the role of being the National Communication Centre for “Data collection on protected species of wild animal and plants” and “Ecopedology and Cartography” as part of the “System for the Observation of and Information on the Alps” (SOIA).

It includes regulators from ten Western European countries (Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and The United Kingdom).

As regulating body for Italy APAT is part of WENRA to whom it provides substantial contributions in the form of nuclear safety assessments for countries that are looking to join the European Union, and the development of a common approach to nuclear safety within the European Union.
