The Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA) carries out scientific and technical activities in the national interest to protect the environment, sea and inland water resources, the soil and the wildlife; it was created in 2008 by merging the Italian Environment Protection and Technical Services Agency, the Central Institute for Scientific and Technogical Research applied to the Sea and the National Institute for Wildlife. ISPRA Coastal Engineering Group ensures scientific support to Italian Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea and local administrations in the field of marine structure environmental effects. The activities carried out by the group include: development of numerical models, wave climate analysis, wave-structure interaction analysis, sediment and pollutant transport modelling, laboratory and in situ measurements based on PIV/PTV techniques.
